Cremorne has a very small residential population — only about 2,000 people in half a square kilometre. The actual housing is concentrated in a few specific pockets: Victorian and Edwardian cottages on Balmain Street, Dover Street, and Bent Street, plus heritage terraces on Cubitt Street’s southern end. These are single-storey workers’ houses on small lots, many opening directly onto the footpath. The rest of Cremorne is increasingly commercial — tech offices are replacing older buildings on several streets. The Malt District development on Cremorne Street near the Nylex Clock is adding a significant number of new apartments, which will change the suburb’s residential character over the next few years. For now, though, most pickups here are from the heritage cottage pockets or commercial clients.

Parking in Cremorne is very competitive during business hours because of the tech and office worker population — the daytime crowd far outnumbers residents. Narrow one-way streets add to the challenge. Evenings are much easier. The heritage cottages have direct front-door access from the street — no intercom, no lobby. The newer developments like the Malt District will have secure entry systems. Balmain Street and Cremorne Street are the main through-roads; the one-way side streets require careful route planning. Church Street and Swan Street are arterials where we don’t stop.
