Fitzroy is Melbourne’s smallest suburb — about 100 hectares — and one of the densest. Behind the Brunswick Street and Smith Street shopfronts, the residential streets are rows of Victorian terraces: single- and double-fronted, mostly face brick, sitting directly on or very close to the footpath. Streets like Gore, Napier, Moor, and Young are quiet heritage-protected blocks of attached houses, many now share houses or subdivided into flats. A lot of these older buildings don’t have laundry at all — the original terraces certainly didn’t come with laundry rooms, and many conversions haven’t added them. Our Fitzroy clients range from cafes and restaurants to art studios and local residents — it’s a mix that matches the suburb’s character.

Parking here is tight and actively enforced — Yarra Council doesn’t mess around. Most residential streets have permit parking on one side and 2-hour timed parking on the other, seven days from 7am. We use the interior residential streets for pickups — Gore, Napier, Moor — rather than trying to stop on Brunswick or Smith Street. If you’re in one of the above-shop apartments on Brunswick Street, let us know which door is yours — the residential entry is usually a plain door between shopfronts with a buzzer, and they can be hard to spot. The terraces also have rear access via the “Little” streets — Little Gore, Little Napier, Little Hanover — which can work for pickups if the front is tricky.
